Scholarship Offering Includes Global Experience
HANOVER, Ind., Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — A life-altering
travel-abroad package could be included in financial aid packages for incoming
students who qualify for Hanover College’s new scholarship program.
With more than $2 million worth of scholarships, Hanover’s Global Quest Scholars
Program provides high school students an opportunity to compete for a range of
scholarships, including full-tuition, and each qualifying student will receive a
guaranteed fully-funded off-campus Spring-term course.
While the economic downturn spurred a recent drop in the numbers of U.S.
students studying abroad, the Global Quest Scholars Program signifies Hanover’s
continued commitment to off-campus experiences. The College strives to prepare
its students for entry into a diverse and changing world and meet the needs of a
global job market.
Recently-launched, the Global Quest Scholars Program is the most-ambitious
scholarship initiative Hanover has ever offered. Four-year scholarships will be
offered at four levels, including full-tuition (Trustee), $4,000 (Horner),
$2,500 (Crowe/Long) and $1,000 (Faculty), in addition to other scholarships
offered through the College’s financial aid program. In addition, honorees will
receive an off-campus travel experience of their choosing during their
sophomore, junior or senior year.
High school students who are interested in competing for Hanover’s Global Quest
Scholars Program must apply for admission by Dec. 3, 2010. No application fee or
essays are required as part of this process. Students can go to www.hanover.edu
to apply.
If selected as a candidate for the program, the qualified student must meet and
interview with Hanover faculty during one of two selection weekends, either Jan.
28-29 or Feb. 4-5.
Successful candidates will receive invitations by mid-December.
For decades, Hanover has offered off-campus study opportunities during its May
term. In the past three years, students have studied in such countries as Italy,
France, England, Spain, China, South Africa, Mexico and Ecuador. Courses also
have been taught at numerous U.S. locations including Arizona, New Mexico and
Colorado.
Located on 650 acres overlooking the Ohio River in southeastern Indiana, Hanover
is a premier, nationally-ranked liberal arts institution that offers a
challenging curriculum and has core strengths in the sciences, education and
business. Founded in 1827, Hanover is the oldest private, four-year college in
Indiana.
