Lilly Named One of America’s Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY)
has been named to the 2011 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List by the Dave
Thomas Foundation for Adoption. This is the fifth consecutive year that Lilly
has been ranked in the top 100.

Rankings for the Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List are determined by an
analysis of a company’s benefits to employees who adopt, such as financial
reimbursement and paid leave. The Foundation compiled the results from its
annual survey of U.S. employers and partnered with Employee Benefit News to
announce the winners.

Today, more than 107,000 children are available for adoption in U.S. foster
care. Each year, nearly 26,000 of these youth will end up leaving the system
when they turn 18 without a family. The release of the fifth annual Best
Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List helps the Foundation increase foster care
adoption awareness while celebrating those businesses that support adoptive
families.

In addition to ranking the top 100 adoption-friendly workplaces, the Foundation
also recognized the top 10 companies by size and recognized the leaders of each
industry. To view all of the honorees, visit www.DaveThomasFoundation.org.
