How Is Santa Claus Like a Trucker? A Special New Holiday Video from Driver Solutions Offers a New Perspective

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 22, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — In honor of the truck drivers who
tirelessly transport loads of goods throughout the holiday season and the rest
of the year, Driver Solutions (http://www.greatcdltraining.com), a career
management company for the trucking industry, has created an online video titled
“‘Twas The Night Before Christmas – Trucker’s Edition.”

The new video, which runs for two minutes and five seconds, shows that Santa and
truck drivers are more alike than people might think. In fact, it poses the
question: Could Santa Claus be the most well-known truck driver?

“‘Twas The Night Before Christmas – Trucker’s Edition” can be viewed from the
Driver Solutions website
(http://blog.greatcdltraining.com/blog/truck-driving-news—trucking-jobs-and-training/0/0/twas-the-night-before-christmastrucker-edition).
While the classical version revolves around a man witnessing a visit from Saint
Nicholas, the trucker edition of the tale features an encounter between a truck
driver and the legendary figure at a truck stop during a blustery snow squall.

The concept was developed by Kylee Wall, the multimedia content producer for
Driver Solutions. Wall was working on a project to represent a day in the life
of a trucker when the spirit of the holiday season inspired her. She wrote her
own version of the Christmas classic, likening Santa’s one-night
around-the-world delivery trip to the American truck driver’s daily routine.
“Yes, Santa Claus steers eight grass-chomping reindeer instead of a
diesel-powered eighteen-wheeler, and he’s seated in a sleigh, not a cab,” said
Wall. “But what he does is strikingly similar to a professional truck driver.”

Wall has a great deal of expertise on the subject since Driver Solutions
recruits and trains truck drivers throughout the United States. All of the
company’s recruiting is conducted online at the website, but the company has
also brought together trucking companies and truck driving schools to form the
“Driver Solutions Network.”

“What Santa accomplishes one night a year, professional truck drivers do daily
at all hours of the day and night,” continued Wall. “So, as you walk into the
mall to pick up that one last special gift, be thankful for the professional
truck driver who brought it there.”
