Comcast Upgrades On-Screen Program Guide and Enhances Mobile App to Add Remote DVR Scheduling and Other New Features in Indiana

FISHERS, Ind., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ — Comcast today announced the launch of new
features to its on-screen program guide and Digital Video Recorder (DVR) service
that will deliver more choice and convenience to the company’s XFINITY TV
customers in Indiana. In addition, iPhone and iPod touch users can now take
advantage of an enhanced version of the free Comcast Mobile application to
remotely program their DVRs.

These on-screen program guide and DVR enhancements, part of the upgraded XFINITY
technology platform launched earlier this month, do not require added equipment
and are provided at no additional cost to the customer. The update will improve
the overall customer experience and make future enhancements – like interactive
television – possible. And with the new Comcast Mobile application, Indiana
customers never have to miss their favorite show or movie because they can
program their DVR at any time, from anywhere.

These new enhancements are available beginning today to Comcast’s customers
throughout Indiana.

“We are committed to providing our customers with more value and convenience and
the addition of new on-screen program guide technology and enhanced DVR
functions join a long list of features that make watching favorite programming
easier and more enjoyable,” said Scott Tenney, Senior Vice President of Comcast
in Indiana. “And now our customers can also easily program their DVR no matter
their location with our Comcast Mobile app, which serves as a ‘one stop shop’
for our services while on the go.”

New On-Screen Program Guide Features

Watch in HD (High Definition) Button

– The new Watch in HD button on the Smart Bar allows HD customers to
immediately see if the program they are watching is available in HD.
– The Watch in HD button cuts scroll times and allows customers to jump
from the SD (Standard Definition) channel to its HD sister channel
faster.

On Demand Skip Ahead/Skip Back

– On Demand Skip Ahead and Skip Back enables customers to skip ahead or
skip back in five minute increments by pressing Page Up and Page Down
arrows on the remote.

New DVR Service Features

myDVR Manager

– myDVR Manager is a new feature that allows customers with a Comcast DVR
and Comcast High-Speed Internet service to remotely schedule and adjust
their recordings online using Comcast TV Listings. Comcast customers can
go to www.comcast.net/myDVR to activate this feature. Once activated,
they can add programs to their recording list, manage their scheduled
DVR recordings and change the priority of recorded series.

DVR Search & Record

– DVR Search & Record enables customers to search for a program by actor,
title, director and keyword. For example, if a customer searches for
“Tom Hanks,” all programs Tom Hanks acted in or directed that are in the
TV Listings would appear. If the customer saves the Tom Hanks search,
the DVR would automatically search for new matches and schedule
recordings anytime a Tom Hanks program aired on any channel.

DVR Skip Ahead/Skip Back

– DVR Skip Ahead and Skip Back feature allows customers to skip ahead or
skip back in five minute increments by pressing Page Up and Page Down
arrows on the remote.

DVR History, Cleanup and Folders

– DVR History displays information on already recorded, watched and
deleted programs.
– DVR Clean Up allows customers to manage their DVR by bulk deleting
programs they no longer want to save.
– DVR Folders – When customers record more than one episode of a series,
DVR Folders will automatically create a folder where programs are
stored.

New Comcast Mobile App 2.0 Features

– Comcast Mobile, the free downloadable app now available for the iPhone
or iPod touch, serves as a single access point to some of Comcast’s most
popular services, including Comcast.net email; visual voice mail, which
enables customers to view and select which voice mail messages they want
to hear; address book sync; real-time TV listings and trailers of On
Demand movies.
– The enhanced app includes a new fully-featured TV program guide, which
provides a customer’s local TV listings line-up, to record programming
at home. The app also enables customers to:
o Search for a particular program and schedule recordings.
o View a list of scheduled recordings, cancel and create new recordings
and switch between multiple DVRs.
o Use the “Quick Record” feature to instantly record with a single tap.
o Sort TV listings by category, such as Movies, Sports, Kids and HD.
– Additional new features include push notification alerts, which
automatically indicate new emails and voice mails have arrived, as well
as TV show reminders.
– Customers also now have the ability to forward pictures and voice mails
as an attachment, mark unwanted emails as spam and access external email
accounts (POP/IMAP) right from their mobile device.

The new On-Screen Program Guide and DVR upgrade may affect certain saved
settings on a limited number of channels, including some parental control locks
to block a specific channel and scheduled DVR recordings. Customers have
received direct notice regarding potentially impacted settings and can visit
www.comcast.com/guide for more information. Parents are encouraged to regularly
confirm that their preference settings and controls are in place as appropriate
on each digital set-top box throughout the home.

www.comcast.net/newguide. iPhone and iPod touchusers can download the Comcast
Mobile application from the App Store and can learn more about the application
by visiting www.comcast.net/comcastmobileapp. In the coming months, the Comcast
Mobile app also will make its debut on BlackBerry devices.
