AAA: March Gas Prices Continue to Climb

AURORA, Ill., March 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Gas prices throughout Illinois and
Indiana continue to climb with very steep rates in March with Illinois and
northern Indiana averages reaching $3.62 and $3.48 respectively, according to
AAA Chicago’s most recent Fuel Gauge Report. In Illinois, regular unleaded
gasoline has increased $.36 during the past month and prices are $.83 higher per
gallon than last year.

In northern Indiana, gas prices average $3.48, which is up 33 cents from
February 2011 and up $.77 from March 2010.

“While gas prices have been the highest on record for this time of year,
consumers should get used to paying these higher prices as with spring comes a
switch to a summer blend of gasoline and another rise in gas prices,” said Beth
Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA Chicago.

— In Cook County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.78, which is up $.36 from last month and $.85 higher than last year’s
price-per-gallon.
— In DuPage County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.67 per gallon, which is a 38-cent increase from February and up 85
cents from last year.
— In Kane County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.66 per gallon, which is 39 cents higher compared to last month and
$.85 higher than March 2010′s price.
— In Lake County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.63 per gallon, which is 38 cents higher than last month and up by
$.85 compared to this time last year.
— In McHenry County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.64 per gallon, which is 37 cents higher than last month’s average and
$.85 higher than March 2010′s price.
— In Will County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.65 per gallon, which is 39 cents higher compared to last month and
$.88 higher compared to last year.
— In Champaign County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.49 per gallon, which is $.33 higher than February and an increase of
$.77 from last year.
— In McLean County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.55 per gallon, which is 38 cents higher than last month and $.83
higher than last year.
— In Peoria County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.54 per gallon, which is up $.38 compared to last month and up $.79
from March 2010.
— In Sangamon County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.46 per gallon, which is 29 cents higher than last month and $.76
higher than last year.
— In Winnebago County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.53 per gallon, an increase of 36 cents from February and $.81 higher
than March 2010.
— In Allen County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.53 per gallon, which is an increase of 39 cents from last month and
$.85 higher than March 2010′s price.
— In Lake County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.48 per gallon, a 31-cent increase from February’s average and a $.76
increase from a year ago.
— In Porter County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
$3.49 per gallon, which is 39 cents higher than last month and $.80
higher than last year.
— In St. Joseph County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline
averages $3.54 per gallon, which is 40 cents higher compared to last
month and $.87 higher compared to last year.
