Jasper Herald Repeats Legion Journalism Award
INDIANAPOLIS, July 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — For the second time in
three years, the Herald of Jasper, IN was named the Fourth Estate Award winner
by members of The American Legion Department of Indiana.
William Powell, a reporter on the staff of the Herald, a veteran himself who
covers veterans’ issue extensively, accepted the award July 16 in Indianapolis
during the 100,000-member veterans’ organization’s 93rd annual Department
Convention.
Jeff Carroll, New Albany, chairman of the Legion’s public relations committee,
said the Fourth Estate Award is “one of our most prestigious, and important,
Communications Awards. It recognizes excellence in reporting on issues of
concern to Legionnaires and veterans. We have an outstanding winner this year -
one we were privileged to honor with this award previously, which means they
have “kept up the good work” just like we encouraged them to do a few years
ago.”
The Herald was nominated by Dubois County American Legion Post 147 in Jasper.
