Piland Assumes Corporate Role as Regional Director of Sales & Marketing
MERRILLVILLE, Ind., Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Senior Director of Corporate
Sales & Marketing at White Lodging, Gill Lapeire, recently announced the
promotion of Calley Piland to the position of Regional Director of Sales &
Marketing for Region 6. “I am very excited to have Calley join my team. She is
an elite sales leader who has a tremendous passion for our business,” Lapeire
said in making the announcement. “She has demonstrated time and again the
ability to grow market share and generate top-line revenue.”
A White Lodging employee since 2004, Piland comes to her new position from the
Residence Inn by Marriott in northwest Austin, Texas. As the property’s General
Manager, she exceeded annual budgeted occupancy rates in 2010 and was on track
to exceed the mark in 2011.
A graduate of the University of North Texas with coursework toward a master’s
degree in liberal arts from Southern Methodist University, Piland’s first
position with White Lodging was as a Sales Manager at the SpringHill Suites by
Marriott in Austin. From there, she assumed the same role at the Residence Inn
by Marriott in north Austin and, in 2005 was named White Lodging’s Select
Service Sales Manager of the Year.
Recognized for her efforts, Piland was soon promoted to the position of Senior
Cluster Sales Manager and was part of the pre-opening sales team responsible for
launching the Marriott hotel concept that combined two of its brands – The
Courtyard by Marriott and the Residence Inn by Marriott in downtown Austin -
into one property. While in this position, Piland and her team were named Sales
Team of the Year.
Moving into a corporate role in 2007, Piland was the Regional Impact Sales
Manager for 20 White Lodging properties located in Austin, San Antonio and
Houston and in Miramar, Florida. In this role, she was Acting Director of Sales
at several of the properties and was responsible for the success of the sales
department under a number of different circumstances including takeovers and new
openings.
