Murphy Called for General Manager Position at Residence Inn Novi

MERRILLVILLE, Ind., May 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Jean Smith, Regional Vice
President at White Lodging, announced the promotion of Katie Murphy to the
position of General Manager at the Residence Inn in Novi, Michigan.

Murphy joined White Lodging shortly after earning her degree in hospitality
business from Michigan State University. Her first position was as the Front
Desk Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Chicago. She then came to
White Lodging’s corporate headquarters as the Regional Bench Operations Manager
where one of her duties was to increase guest service scores through training
and development.

In 2008, Murphy became the Dual Front Office Manager and was on the opening team
of the Residence Inn by Marriott and Springhill Suites by Marriott in Chicago’s
River North area. In this position, she was called on to recruit, train and
organize front office operations. Until her recent promotion, Murphy served as
the General Manager at the Holiday Inn Express near Chicago’s Midway Airport.
While in this role, she was responsible for increasing overall guest
satisfaction scores by more than three percent and is also credited with
assisting the hotel to achieve more than 50 percent of the Holiday Inn Express
Brand for the first time in four years.

Raised in Michigan, Murphy is glad to move closer to family and commented on her
