Lilly Quality Leader Walsh Appointed to Company’s Executive Committee
INDIANAPOLIS, July 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Fionnuala Walsh, Ph.D., will join the
executive committee of Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) on July 1.
Walsh will continue in her current role as Lilly’s senior vice president of
global quality, reporting to John Lechleiter, Ph.D., chairman, president, and
CEO, and working to ensure Lilly continues to maintain high quality standards
across its worldwide operations.
Walsh is a recognized thought leader in the quality industry, often speaking
about Lilly’s sustainable, integrated quality system and the company’s
commitment to maintaining a quality culture. Her presence on the company’s most
senior governance committee is expected to further underscore Lilly’s ongoing
commitment to quality.
A native of Ireland, Walsh earned a bachelor’s degree and doctoral degree in
chemistry from University College Dublin. She joined Lilly’s Kinsale, Ireland,
manufacturing site in 1988 as a technical services chemist. After numerous
positions there, she moved into a role as global quality leader at the Lilly
Corporate Center in Indianapolis in 2002.
In January 2003, Walsh was named executive director of quality for U.S. drug
product and Lilly Technology Center operations. In July 2005, she was named vice
president of global quality operations, and, in June 2007, she was named senior
vice president of global quality.
