Knight Moves Into General Manager Role at Richmond Marriott
MERRILLVILLE, Ind., July 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Saying that because he was born
in the south his current move is “like coming home,” Glynn Knight was recently
tapped to be the General Manager at White Lodging’s Marriott Hotel in Richmond,
Virginia. No stranger to full-service hotels or the Marriott brand, Knight has
experience working at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf, Marriott’s Tan-Tar-A
Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri and the Marriott at the Kansas City Airport.
While with Marriott International, Knight also gained select-service experience
working as the General Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott in Kansas City and
at the Courtyard by Marriott in Overland Park, Kansas. While at the Kansas City
property, his hotel received the Guest Services Hotel of the Year award.
“The Marriott in Richmond is one of the premier properties in the Apple REIT
portfolio,” said Regional Vice President John Randall. “I have every confidence
in Glynn’s ability and am pleased to see him in the GM role.”
A White Lodging associate since 2007, Knight’s first position with the company
was as the General Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott in Farmington,
Connecticut where he received the Excalibur Award. He was then named an Impact
Manager and was responsible for turning around a handful of underperforming
properties in Florida, New Jersey and New York.
Knight’s most recent position was as the General Manager at the Courtyard by
Marriott located just off Michigan Avenue in Chicago. At the helm while the
property underwent extensive interior and exterior renovation, Knight’s strong
leadership skills played a pivotal role in the hotel’s continued positive guest
services scores.
