Burns Moves into New GM Position in Austin

MERRILLVILLE, Ind., May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — For the past three-and-a-half
years, Zach Burns has served as the General Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott
near the airport in Austin, Texas. He recently moved into the same position at
Courtyard by Marriott near the University of Texas campus in Austin.

training great talent,” Burns said of his recent appointment. While at the
airport location, Burns received the 2010 Select Service Above and Beyond Award,
which was presented at the General Manager’s Conference recently held at the JW
Marriott in Indianapolis.

Burns first position in the industry was in Maui, Hawaii where he was the
Housekeeping Manager at the Napali Shores Resort. He joined the White Lodging
team in 2001, and he has been with the company since. “Zach has been very
successful in three different brands for us, and I know he will be successful in
this, his biggest role yet,” said Kevin Grandin the Regional Vice President.

When Burns came to White Lodging, his was initially the Operations Manager at
the Residence Inn by Marriott in Louisville, Colorado. He then was named the
Director of Services at the Denver Marriott South located in Littleton,
Colorado.

Moving to the Residence Inn by Marriott Austin North, Burns was the Sales
Manager. In this position, he received the White Lodging Sales Manager of the
Year Award in 2004 and was recognized by Marriott International as the Third
Quarter Sales Star the same year. Promoted to General Manager of the property,
Burns was charged with managing all facets of the 88-room extended stay
property.

Burns is a graduate of Texas Tech with a degree in Restaurant, Hotel &
Institutional Management.
