Accolades, Sustainable Practices Take Center Stage in Kimball Office CSR Report

first contract office furniture manufacturers to obtain American National
Standards Institute/Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers
Association (ANSI/BIFMA) level® 2 or 3 certification for 100 percent of its
manufactured products, Kimball® Office is pleased to release the company’s
second annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report.

Throughout 2010, Kimball Office, a brand unit of Kimball® International,
participated in scores of fundraising and volunteer activities, filed dozens of
new patents, improved manufacturing practices, and was recognized by multiple
state and national organizations for environmental achievements.

The CSR report is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability
Reporting Guidelines, highlights include:

— 95 percent of seating products are Scientific Certification Systems
(SCS) Indoor Advantage(TM) Gold certified
— Post Falls, Idaho manufacturing facility implemented new process and
reduced water usage by nearly 620,000 gallons
— Average recycling efficiency rate for all manufacturing facilities was
more than 89 percent
— Recycled nearly 625,000 pounds of cardboard
— Recognized by the State of Idaho as a Pollution Prevention Champion
— Received the Indiana Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence
— Granted Indiana Department of Environmental Management Environmental
Stewardship Program Membership for Salem and Jasper, Ind. manufacturing
facilities
— Ranked in the top 25th percentile of the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency’s SmartWay transportation program
— Presented with GREEN GOOD DESIGN Award for Fluent(TM) desking and San
Francisco showroom
— Achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®)
certification for Atlanta, GA showroom
— As of 2010, 100 percent of packaging is recyclable
— Planted more than 1,600 trees for 40 Trees in 40 Cities initiative
— Since 1990, planted more than 375,000 seedlings as part of Trees for
Tomorrow program
— Salem, Ind. facility celebrated more than 3,000,000 hours worked without
a lost time injury
