AAA: IL/IN Gas Prices Continue to Rise

AURORA, Ill., May 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Gas prices continue to rise as
Illinois and Indiana drivers are currently paying on average $3.89 and $3.73
respectively for a gallon of regular unleaded. Illinois prices reflect a rise of
nearly $.15 from just a month ago, while the $.02 month-over-month disparity in
Indiana is much smaller. Drivers in every state except Colorado are paying

In April in Illinois, gas prices averaged $3.87, which was up $.13 from March
2014 and up $.07 from a year ago. In northern Indiana, gas prices averaged $3.82
in April, which was up $.18 from March and up $.07 from April 2013.

“Drivers can’t seem to catch a break with gas prices rising sharply in Illinois
and Indiana due to significant refinery maintenance and the regulated switchover
to the summer blend,” said Beth Mosher, AAA spokeswoman. “Spring is generally
the worst time of the year to fill up the car, and high gas prices make it
especially hard on people hoping to take advantage of the warmer weather.”
